Hi Everyone!
My name is Leah, I am 14 years old (as of 2013) and I am a HUGE animal lover, and I own all the Rabbits at Fairy Tail Rabbitry in the Mountain's up Columbia Falls Montana. We are home schooled so have plenty of extra time with to spend with our rabbits. I've had Rabbits since January of 2010 and started professionally breeding and showing them in late spring of 2010.
I live in the beautiful state of Montana in Columbia Falls near Glacier National Park. I live on a small farm with Chickens, Dogs, Cats, and of course our Bunnies. I have one older Sister, and a younger Sister left at home, who also breeds and raises Rabbits. My older brother, Obie, helped pick out my rabbbity name. Since I was raising an animal, it's "Tail" not "Tale". My old rabbitry name was "Angel Haven Rabbitry", but I wasnt to fond of it, so I changed it.
My very first Rabbit was Lailah, a Californian Doe, who sadly passed a few year's after I had her. Anyways we got the Californians as our Mom's idea as she wanted to raise the meat rabbits, and we had four wire hanging cages in our barn. So we got four Doe's and filled all four cages. Then we needed a buck, and also another hutch. So we got a Hutch out in Kalispell and it came with two bunnies, a Mini rex and a Holland Lop. And they were both just the sweetest things. Though we did end up selling the Mini rex we kept the Holland lop and were just in love with her. I cant remember how exactly we decided to start raising the smaller breeds, but we did research on them and found a whole bunch of breeds we wanted to raise and I picked the Dwarf Hotots. Our friend called (whom we had gotten the four Cali's from) and said lots of people have been asking about the Netherland Dwarfs. So we also did some research on them and my older sister decided she wanted them. I dont remember how exactly it all went down but I ended up with 9 Dwarf Hotots, who most had weak immune systems and died. My first Jersey Wooly was "Silver" a Pointed white Buck for my birthday. He was an absolute sweetie.
Since our Dad worked (used to anyways) in Ohio, and he was going to come out to visit us for a few weeks, so we started looking for breeders with the breeds we wanted to raise and bought stock from them, and like everyone we started with brood stock and certainly improved since then.
Now I raise the beautiful Dwarf Hotot's, the adoring Jersey Woolies, and the loving Holland Lops, my younger Sister raises Lionheads, Californian's, Champagne d'Argent's, and New Zealand's, my older Sister raises Netherland Dwarfs & Holland Lops. And of course our Friend who we got our first Rabbits from, raises Checkered Giants, Flemish Giants, Chinchilla Giants, Netherland Dwarfs, Polish, Mini Rex, Standard Rex, Dutch, Lionheads, and New Zealands (Their websites are on my Link's page).
I breed for Quality, and if I do get Pet quality babies in Litters I usually get Pet home's for them. I try and get nice head/ear on the hotots. I have been working on that since I got into them. I dont really do much with the Woolies. I am just getting started with the Holland Lops, so I will see what I am going for when I start breeding them. I love the holland's with huge chubby heads.
Also go to my "Feed and Treats page", and it has what I feed, and what treats I give!
When Winter comes my Doe's have their babies in our house, there is usually nothing to do, other then homework, so we handled and cuddle with our Bunnies and have so much fun playing with them. All of my Bunnies are handled daily, weather they are indoors or out.
Rabbits are such a joy in my life. I am so happy I raise them.
They are super easy to take care of, and all my Bunnies have awesome personalities. Each and every one of my Bunnies are handled daily and have different personality's, and are treated and taken care of perfectly.
I strive in getting the best Black & want to start, Chocolate Banded Dwarf Hotot's, and hoping to be on the Top Dwarf Hotot Breeders List. And I am now raising Blue-eyed white and colored Jersey Woolies!
I am also a member of ARBA & the ADHRC (I still need to be added to the HLRSC & the NJWRC).
If your interested in getting any Bunnies from me you could just go to my "Contact Me" page, full out the form and I will get back to you ASAP and I hope you enjoyed looking at all my gorgeous Bunnies, I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Rabbit Exercise Play-Pens
To get my Rabbits out every once and a while in the summer I let them run in a 'Puppy Play Pen" but with chicken wire around the bottom, so I dont have any bunnies escaping (Babies mostly, and they still manage to find bent wire around the bottom to escape). Pictured in the slide show to the left is an example. Took May, so there isnt any grass growing for them to eat (Although Grass doesn't grow where we live in the Mountains, just weeds mostly). Pictured is Viola (Chestnut Jersey Wooly), and 5 of her own babies who were left from a litter of 7, and a fostered Black piebald Dwarf Hotot, just chillin' on a nice 80 degree day in the shade.
I put a cardboard box filled with Hay, so they can munch on it, a little Igloo-Castle, and the enjoy sitting on top it, a couple Pine-Cones for them to throw around, a fresh bowl of water and pellets with treat mix on top. Viola and her babies spent most of the day in the play pen just enjoying the very nice weather. As the Dandelions start to grow, I feed them to my rabbits, as they are very healthy for the Rabbits, and rabbits love them. |
